Dual-use classification — pre-CCL triage

Dual-Use Goods Helper

Not sure if your item needs an export license? Describe what you’re shipping in plain English — we’ll surface what to investigate, flag risky destinations, and highlight common red flags. If we find a potential match, you can then check whether a U.S. government license is required through the License Checker. Educational triage only — confirm with export-controls counsel before shipping.

What’s an ECCN?
An ECCN (Export Control Classification Number) is a code that tells you which U.S. export rules apply to your item. Most ordinary commercial goods are EAR99, the catch-all classification for items that don’t appear on the Commerce Control List.

Educational tool, not a determination

This tool produces educational triage outputs based on the inputs you provide. It is not a substitute for screening systems, license determinations, professional judgment, or current regulatory guidance. No inputs are stored on Sanctionfy servers.

Describe the item in a sentence or two. Be specific — include materials, performance specs, and intended application if known.

Try an example:

Adding a destination surfaces a Country Group D or embargo escalator note. Skip if you’re still scoping.

How will it be used? (optional, select any)

End-use context can change the triage band and surface Part 744 reminders.

Keyword-based triage. Not a classification.
